Rvdo. Dr. Amaury Tañón-Santos

Nacido y criado en Puerto Rico, Amaury respondió a la vocación pastoral desde temprana edad. Animado por el ministerio de su iglesia madre, la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Río Piedras, e influenciado por un contexto familiar ecuménico, Amaury continuó su desarrollo académico y eclesiástico en formación de su vocación.

Activo en la vida de su iglesia local y de las Iglesias Bautistas de Puerto Rico desde su juventud, cursó estudios de bachillerato, con concentración en Historia, en la Universidad de Puerto Rico (B.A., 2002). El otoño de su graduación de la universidad, se muda a Nueva Jersey a cursar estudios de maestría en el Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div., 2005). También cursó estudios doctorales en el New Brunswick Theological Seminary (D.Min., Ministerio Urbano/Relaciones Interculturales, 2011).

Ordenado al ministerio en agosto de 2005, Amaury pastoreo iglesias en Nueva York y Nueva Jersey. En julio de 2011, Amaury ocupó la posición de Director de Programas en Educación Continuada del Princeton Seminary donde dirige los Programas de Liderazgo Hispano/Latino, los Programas de Ministerio Multicultural, las Iniciativas de Ministerio Urbano, el Instituto de Predicación Engle, y otras iniciativas de desarrollo de líderes de iglesias.

Amaury también sirve a la Iglesia como Asociado Parroquial de la Iglesia Presbiteriana Nuevas Fronteras, en la junta de la Hermandad Bautista Norteamericana por la Paz, en el Equipo de Transición del Sínodo (Presbiteriano) del Noreste, en el Equipo de Ministerio Multicultural del Presbiterio de Elizabeth en la junta del Ministerio Universitario Protestante de Rutgers (University).


The Reverend Dr. Amaury Tañón-Santos

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Amaury responded to the call to ministry at a young age. Encouraged by the leadership of his mother church - the historic First Baptist Church of Río Piedras - and influenced by the diverse religious context of his family, pastor Amaury continued the academic and church formation path towards his vocation.

Active in local church and in the life of the Baptist Churches of Puerto Rico, Amaury studied history in the Universidad de Puerto Rico (B.A., 2002). Upon graduation, he moved to New Jersey to continue graduate studies at Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div., 2005). He later pursued doctoral studies at New Brunswick Theological Seminary (D.Min., Urban Ministry/Intercultural Relations, 2011).

Ordained to the Christian Ministry in August 2005, Amaury pastored congregations in New York and New Jersey. In July 2011, Amaury takes on the post of Director of Programs at Princeton Seminary's Continuing Education, where he leads the Multicultural Ministry Programs,  the Urban Ministry Initiatives, the Hispanic/Latino(a) Leadership Programs, the Spanish Engle Institute of Preaching, and other church leadership development initiatives.

Beyond his work in Seminary, Amaury serves the Church as Parish Associate of Nuevas Fronteras Presbyterian Church, in the board of the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America, in the Transition Working Group of the Synod of the Northeast, in the Multicultural Ministry Task Force of the Presbytery of Elizabeth, and the board of the Rutgers Protestant Campus Ministry.
